A Technology Stack is a term used to describe the overall tools and frameworks used to build a software application. 

A 'stack' includes elements like programming languages, frameworks, database, servers and other tools developers select and use to build an application from the ground up. 

Careful review of technology stack options need to be made before commencing a new project to ensure the best mix of tools are used based on the requirements of the application.
