Browser

A browser or web browser is a software program that allows a user to locate, access, and display web pages. The most common examples are Internet Explorer from Microsoft, Firefox from Mozilla, Google Chrome, Safari from Apple, and Opera.

The role of a browser is to translate websites and web pages into content that can be understood by humans. Each time a browser loads a web page, it processes the HTML, which may include text, links, and references to images and other items, such as cascading style sheets and JavaScript functions. The browser processes these items at a rapid speed, then renders them in the browser view so it is readable.

The concept of a broswer actually created by Tim Berners-Lee in the late 1980s as part of the first concepts that resulted in what we now know as the World Wide Web (WWW).
